Reece Parker
Reece’s passion for outdoor photography was developed through countless family camping trips starting when he was a baby and continuing throughout his childhood. These excursions were always documented by his father who created thousands of slides spanning over four decades. Reece’s parents not only provided him with a childhood filled with adventure and deep appreciation for nature’s splendor, they also allowed him to create his first darkroom in their laundry room!
Early in Reece’s career as a photographer he was exposed to the work of Ansel Adams. A lifelong love affair with black and white photography ensued. Like many black and white fine art photographers pre digital age, Reece honed his photography skills to match his artist’s vision through 20 years of perseverance in the darkroom. During these years Reece gained recognition as an artist creating silver gelatin prints.
In 2004, Reece took the giant leap to digital photography and donated his entire darkroom to a very grateful school. This change in technology prompted a change in style. Over the past two decades Reece creates as many color images as black and white. While his passion has always been landscapes, he has numerous ongoing series including New Mexico churches, Route 66, old cars, decaying artifacts and petroglyphs. He is published in New Mexico Magazine and Outdoor Photographer.
