​We are blessed to live in the Western United States, a region of remarkable variety and beauty.  I have lived in the West for almost all of my long life and have traveled in and explored many of these extraordinary places.  It is where I feel at home.  My work fits squarely in the Western, black and white, landscape tradition.  I generally avoid iconic and well photographed  scenes.  I doubt that I have anything to add to what has already been done.  I prefer instead to move slowly through the many less well known but still interesting places so as to better see and photograph the beauty that is abundant if we but look and see.  I make pictures that are honest and without artifice or gimmick.  I succeed if your eyes are drawn to the thing itself, the places as I saw and felt them and that my hand in rendering them is  invisible.
